CORE JOB SUMMARY: The Surgical Technician 3 - Certified oversees and accounts for the instruments and equipment used during surgical procedures and maintains a sterile field during surgical procedures. Demonstrates competency and proficiency in the use of equipment and instruments for all surgical procedures performed within the department.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS: Prepares the surgical suite, ensuring environmental safety for the patient and personnel. Demonstrates a surgical conscience by practicing aseptic technique. Maintains a neat and organized sterile field. Labels medications and solutions on the surgical field. Provides assistance with orientation and training of new surgical technologists. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. Certification and Licensing: Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements.
