Description

Position: Surgical ICU RN
Schedule: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM; 6 weekend shifts in every 6-week period; every other holiday; no call
Experience: 1 year; Level I trauma and ICU experience required
Required: BLS and ACLS; active IL license; negative drug screen for all panels
EMR: EPIC
Unit: 13-bed SICU, typically 1:2 and sometimes 1:1 or 1:3, with patient care techs at 1:10
Duties: Care for post-surgical, open-abdomen, multi-system trauma and endovascular patients; titrate pressors, sedation, paralytics and insulin; read and interpret your own telemetry strips
Note: Intensivists in house roughly 7:00 AM-7:00 PM with tele-intensivist and on-call attending support overnight; RT in the ICU 24/7; if floated to a lower level of care expect 3 stepdown or 5-6 general medical patients; no set scrub color; orientation is 8 hours on EPIC, 8 hours with an educator, 4 hours shadowing and 12 hours with a preceptor
