Stepdown Nurse, Definitive Observation Unit Nurse, Intermediate Care Nurse, Progressive Care Nurse, Surgical Stepdown Nurse or Telemetry PCU Nurse (2 years)

Description

Position: Critical Care Step-Down RN
Schedule: Four 12-hour days, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, 48 guaranteed hours; every other weekend and every other holiday; no blocked scheduling
Experience: 2+ years recent step-down
Required: BLS, ACLS and NIHSS
Unit: Critical care step-down (unit 6024) at a 1:4-5 ratio; Pyxis medication system
Duties: Care for CHF, post heart catheterization, post vascular procedure, respiratory failure (BiPAP/CPAP/Vapotherm) and cardiac dysrhythmia patients - post-cath care, TR bands, post-vascular monitoring and frequent vital sign and neurovascular checks. Skills needed include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead ECG, IV starts and PICC management, blood products, emergency medications, procedural sedation, cardiac drip titration, acute stroke management, BiPAP/CPAP management, assisting with chest tube insertion and removal, and phlebotomy
Note: A telemetry test is taken on site, usually during orientation, with two attempts - failing the second ends the contract
