Ratios:

Stepdown/ICU: 2–4:1

Med-Surg: 5–6:1

Equipment: IV pumps, wound vacs, glucometers, Baxter feeding pumps, SCDs, lift equipment, Pyxis

EMR: Cerner

Float Unit: Transitional Care Unit (TCU)

Requirements:

Certifications: BLS and ACLS (RNs must have before end of orientation; NAs require BLS)

Experience: ICU/Stepdown preferred; Med-Surg experience (1+ year) ideal

Typical Skills/Procedures:

IV starts, CVL and arterial line care

Foley catheter insertion

Continuous EKG monitoring

Wound care and dressing changes
