Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Sonographer for a night shift position in a high-volume, academic-level cardiology stress unit requiring a minimum of 2 years of echo tech experience and RDCS, RCS, or ACS certification.
Details
- Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center with 885 licensed beds, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center designation
- Cardiology - Stress unit performing TTE, TEE, Stress Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Nuclear Cardiology, and Tilt Table studies
- High-volume department averaging 110 TTE/comprehensive studies per day across all areas, 14 stress-related studies per day, and 5–6 TEEs per day
- Patient population includes Heart Failure, advanced cardiac diagnostics, chemotherapy evaluations, and renal transplant evaluations
- EMR: Epic (Encompass); department uses Philips and GE echo systems, GE CASE stress lab, and Philips ISCV for echo reporting
- 4x10 hour night shifts, 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM, Monday through Thursday, 40 hours per week
- Weekend and holiday coverage dependent on unit needs
- May float to satellite sites within the Wake Region
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist
- Current BLS required; RDCS (ARDMS), RCS, or ACS (Advanced Cardiac Sonographer through CCI) required
- ACLS and PALS preferred
- Proficiency in 2D, Doppler, color flow, 3D, strain, and contrast echo studies
- Stress echo skills and experience with interventional procedures preferred
- IV management training preferred
- Active license required if applicable
- Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Perform TTE comprehensive studies, TEE, Stress Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo, and nuclear cardiology studies in a fast-paced, patient/family-focused academic lab
- Department team includes a dedicated Cardiac Ultrasound Educator, Chief Sonographer, 19 echo techs (including satellites), 5 RNs, and 2 EPs
- New employee orientation followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have held a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- Required scrub colors: Barney Purple tops and black pants/skirts; warm-up jackets may be purple or black
- Parking is assigned and free
