Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with at least 2 years of experience for a 13-week inpatient rehabilitation hospital assignment in Asheville, NC, working Monday–Friday day shifts.
Details
- Inpatient rehabilitation hospital setting with 80 beds
- Physical Therapy department serving patients with TBI, stroke, orthopedic, cardiac, SCI, pulmonary, and debility diagnoses
- Patient ratio of 1:6 on day shift
- Unit is supported by 1 Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) and 2 Rehab Techs
- Procedures performed include e-stim, ultrasound, splinting, wound care, and limb wrapping
- Equipment includes Sara Steady, Sara Plus, Hoyer lift, Viking lift, sliding boards, and various adaptive equipment
- Documentation systems: Meditech and RehabConnect
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Position is dedicated to the rehab facility and is not a float position, though flex scheduling is possible
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent physical therapy experience, with inpatient rehab hospital experience strongly preferred
- Active PT license to practice in NC required; license required if applicable
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted); certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Proficiency in safe patient handling techniques required
- Experience with EMR documentation and compliance required
- Familiarity with protocols for autonomic dysreflexia prevention, bowel/bladder programs, and pressure ulcer prevention strategies
- Experience with wheelchairs, prosthetics, orthotics, and adaptive equipment
- Strong interdisciplinary communication and family training skills
- Critical thinking and time management skills required
- Must have active work history with no gaps of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)

- Interdisciplinary team collaboration, family training, and DME recommendations are core components of the role
- The hospital holds YCVA (Young Stroke/CVA) program certification and features active student rotations
- A variety of specialized equipment is available to tailor therapy interventions
- Dress code requires rehab casual attire or black scrub bottoms with eggplant purple scrub tops
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
