Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring a minimum of 5 years of high-acuity ED experience and active TNCC certification.
Details
- Work setting is a 22-bed Emergency Department at a hospital in Brownsville, TX
- Patient-to-nurse ratio is 4:1
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- EMR system is Meditech; experience preferred
- 2 weekends per schedule required
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required
Requirements
- Active TX or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 5 years of recent ED experience in a high-acuity setting
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, and CPI (AHA or ARC accepted; certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- Strong triage and critical thinking skills
- Experience with trauma and cardiac alert cases, including STEMI, stroke, and sepsis patients
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- One professional reference required
Additional Information
- Procedures performed include IV insertion, medication administration, EKGs, splinting, wound care, moderate sedation, intubation assistance, CPR, rapid sequence intubation, and code response
- Care provided to stroke, STEMI, sepsis, trauma, and behavioral health patients
- Responsibilities include triage using ESI guidelines, transport coordination, isolation/infection control protocols, and documentation in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required
- Meditech EMR experience is preferred
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- CPI may be substituted with SAMA, MAB, or ACPMA based on facility acceptance
