Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Oncology/Tele night shift position requiring 2 years of current acute care oncology experience and telemetry skills.

Details

• Med/Surg Oncology unit caring for all solid tumor cancers across the cancer care continuum, including new diagnosis, treatment, and end-of-life transition
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Adult and geriatric patient population with common diagnoses including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers
• Target staffing ratio of 1:4, with occasional 1:5
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling offered
• Floating required to other Med-Surg Oncology units
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience in Med-Surg/Oncology, consistently worked within the last 12 months
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience accessing and managing ports preferred
• Experience with blood product administration
• Experience administering chemotherapy preferred
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred

• Cares for patients with true med-surg issues in addition to oncology-specific needs
• Willingness to learn and grow nursing practice is valued
• Previous travel experience preferred, but first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process urgently upon contract signing; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those at greater distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a charge RN is acceptable for the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are not eligible for travel assignments at this health system
• RTO must be requested and built into the contract prior to consideration
