Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN with trauma and neuro critical care experience for a night shift assignment requiring a California RN license.

Details

• Trauma/Neuro ICU setting within a Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:45-07:15)
• Floating required within the service line, including to a nearby hospital approximately 15 minutes away
• Advance notice provided if floated, with a billable 1-hour orientation at the floated facility

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (EMSA not accepted)
• Minimum 3 years of experience required, including documented Trauma and Neuro ICU experience in work history
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and TNCC or TCAR
• Preferred certifications: CPI and MAB
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Cerner charting experience required
• Strict adherence to accurate and thorough charting required due to extensive chart audits
• Skills required include dysrhythmia management, ventilator management, central/arterial line care, CRRT, EVD and ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol, and post-neurosurgery/TBI management
• One supervisory reference required
• Recent Nursys report required

Additional Information

• Manage complex neuro and trauma ICU patients including CVA, TBI, spinal cord injury, and post-craniotomy care
• Perform hourly neuro checks and pupillometry
• Administer continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drips, and blood products as needed
• COVID vaccination required
• Pass/fail testing and an Advanced EKG exam are required prior to consideration
• A 1-hour CA Harassment course is required, completed via paper timecard
• First-time travelers are welcome if minimum requirements are met
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront and covering the entire contract length, as post-submission RTO changes are not accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Interview availability must accommodate Pacific Time (PST)
