Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Oncology Med/Surg unit, requiring at least 1 year of specialty experience and prior travel assignment history.
Details
- Acute care setting on a 29-bed Oncology unit (7th floor and outpatient), with travelers working the floor only
- Patient ratios of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- Night shift schedule, 7a-7p, with every other weekend required
- Uses MEDITECH EMR
- Nurse aides on staff, typically 3 per day, and a dedicated charge nurse out of the staffing grid
- Telemetry monitoring is centralized; reading strips not required
- Floating is rare and limited to medical acute units
- Holiday rotation required in line with staff schedule
Requirements
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA); NIHSS preferred
- BSN not required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, along with at least 1 prior travel assignment
- ONS certification preferred, with 2 years of specialty experience if performing chemo administration
- No first-time travelers considered for this position
- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
Additional Information
- Care for patients with acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology needs, medical overflow, and end-of-life care
- Outpatient area patients may transfer to the floor to complete treatment if outpatient services close before treatment concludes
- Unit-specific orientation lasts 3 days
- Caribbean Blue scrub color required
- Not eligible for placement if previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months
