Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring critical care experience and a compact or ND RN license.

Details

• 4-bed ICU within an acute care critical access hospital
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 depending on acuity
• Common diagnoses include DKA, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiac rate/rhythm control, medical detox, arterial lines, and CVP monitoring
• RNs are required to titrate drips typical of an ICU setting
• ER staff serve as charge nurse for the unit; no dedicated ICU charge nurse
• No nurse aides or patient care techs assigned to this unit
• Respiratory equipment ranges from nasal cannula to ventilators; RNs troubleshoot as needed
• RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry strips
• 12-hour night shifts on a 7pm-7am schedule
• Weekend and holiday coverage required as needed
• Floating to Med-Surg or ER (for 1:1 assignments) required
• Uses MEDITECH EMR
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active RN license (ND state or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
• TNCC, TCAR, or equivalent trauma patient care experience required
• Experience with ICU drip titration required
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including monitoring, drip titration, and respiratory support troubleshooting
• Successful candidates demonstrate coachability, motivation, and strong teamwork skills
• Navy scrub color required
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
• Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested upfront per 13-week contract; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
