Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float across multiple ICU units.
Details
- Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital
- Nurses float to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU/MICU/NCCU
- Float policy requires floating within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Proficiency with EPIC required
- Required skills: IV start, telemetry, and ventilator management experience
- Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
- Care for critically ill patients across multiple ICU specialties including cardiovascular, neuro, surgical, and medical intensive care
- Perform skills such as arterial line management, central/PICC line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and interpret/manage dysrhythmias
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location
- RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict credentialing timelines
- First-time travelers not specifically excluded but previous travel experience is strongly preferred
