Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Room position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and an active MI license.
Details
- Level II trauma emergency department in a 324-bed medical center
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every third weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active Michigan (MI) RN license required, compact license not accepted
- 2+ years of ER experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Travel and Epic experience preferred
- Skills checklist pertinent to ER specialty, current within 1 year, required
- 2 supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care including triage, assessment, and history taking for acute and non-acute patients
- Independently initiate emergency care in life-threatening situations in the absence of a physician
- Perform complex and simple nursing procedures and assist physicians with procedures
- Provide physical and psychological comfort to patients, families, and visitors
- Deliver discharge instructions and coordinate follow-up care
- Respond to ambulance radio calls and provide pre-hospital care orders independently
- Navy blue scrub dress code required
- Facility restricts consideration to candidates outside a 50-mile radius
- No more than 5 days of RTO can be requested during the assignment

Subpar pay (non-competitive with regional hospitals). Starting pay for a RN is 32.90 per hour in 08/2026. Other area hospitals like covenant and McLaren Bay City start out in the $40+/hr range. Lots of drama with coworkers, but that’s everywhere.
