Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for Labor & Delivery in a high-risk unit requiring KS or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.

Details

• High-risk Labor & Delivery unit including OB Triage, Postpartum, and Level 2 Special Care Nursery
• Care for laboring patients including high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes for gestations 34 weeks 0 days and greater
• Involves C-sections and external cephalic versions
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 6:00 to 18:00
• 36 or 48 hour scheduling options available
• Epic charting system preferred
• Floating to similar units required based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP required; AWHONN Intermediate required, AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and forceps/vacuum extraction
• Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, multiple gestation, and preterm labor
• Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage management, cesarean section care, and couplet care
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation

Additional Information

• Care for antepartum, high-risk antepartum, and LDRP patients in a facility with over 300 births per month
• Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including newborn assessments and radiant warmer/thermoregulation support
• Support postpartum patients with lactation support, fundus/lochia/perineum care, and wound assessment
• Assist with pain management including epidural and general anesthesia support
• First-time travelers accepted for this position
• Candidates must live outside a 50 mile radius of the facility as locals are not accepted
• Former staff must have been separated from permanent employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
