Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least one prior travel assignment for a 48-hour/week night shift contract in a high-acuity, mixed ICU setting.
Details
- 39-bed mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) divided into pods
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 48 hours per week
- Patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and occasionally 1:3 based on acuity
- Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases with a heavy trauma focus
- Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
- Cardiac experience preferred, including CABG/TAVR post-op care
- Impella, IABP, and CRRT experience strongly preferred
- Uses Epic charting system and Omnicell; Alaris pumps transitioning to Baxter pumps in October
- Floating not common but may occur to adult floors including Medsurg/Tele with 1:4 ratio
- Weekend rotation attempted for every other weekend, not guaranteed
- No on-call requirements
- Support includes 1-2 CNAs per unit, mobility float aide, charge RNs, resource nurse (staffing dependent), and 24/7 respiratory therapy
- 3 intensivists on days and 2 on nights with APP coverage overnight
Requirements
- Active SD or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be willing to obtain TNCC prior to arrival if not already certified)
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with IV medications including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics
- Experience with hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
- Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
- Comfortable working a 48-hour/week contract
- Minimum of one prior travel assignment required
Additional Information
- ICU RNs may be qualified to float to the ED, and PCU RNs may float to ICU
- May be expected to precept nursing students
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available
- Orientation includes hospital orientation, department orientation with iLearns, and floor shift orientation
- No RTO permitted during holidays or during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first three weeks of August)
- Time off requests up to 7 days may be approved but must not shorten the required 13-week contract length
- Travelers must live 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility
- Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Facility is known for being very traveler friendly and frequently renews travel contracts
