Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring BLS, PALS, and VA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) of a hospital setting
• 13-week assignment with rotating day and night shifts (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
• 36 or 48 hours per week scheduled on a rotating basis
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• 3 weekends required per six-week schedule
• May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics based on staffing needs
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start date
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Peds cardiac experience a plus
• BSN preferred
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line care, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience with emergency medications including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and continuous sedation
• Experience with hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Two professional references required
• Nursys verification required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Float assignments will remain within scope of practice as needed
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no time off approved during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Any pre-start vacation time must be disclosed prior to confirming a start date
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
