Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring trauma experience and multiple specialty certifications.

Details

  • Level I Trauma Center with Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department designations
  • General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric populations
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
  • Weekend rotation of 3 weekends (Fri-Sun) per 4-week schedule, with variable weekend day commitments
  • Floating to Pediatrics possible
  • No on-call requirements
  • Currently experiencing high patient ratios of 1:5-6, potentially up to 1:8 depending on patient volume and holidays
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required by start date (compact license not accepted)
  • Certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
  • ENPC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required
  • Travel experience preferred, especially for candidates with 2 years of experience
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and blood product administration
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and continuous IV sedation preferred
  • Experience in triage and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric patient populations
  • Perform cardiac monitoring and respond to dysrhythmias
  • Administer and monitor procedural sedation and IV vasopressors as needed
  • Care for patients with traumatic injuries including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
  • Manage pediatric emergencies including head injury and near drowning cases
  • Complete pre-start training modules prior to assignment start, which may vary by specialty
  • Epic training provided during orientation
  • First-time travelers may be considered
  • Returning core staff must wait 12 months before reapplying, subject to HR verification
  • RTO must be submitted at time of application, with a 5-day maximum per assignment
  • No RTO approved for 10/31 or 12/18-12/28
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
