Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU/IMC RN requiring Cerner proficiency, an MD or compact RN license, and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Work in a combined IMC and ICU unit setting
• 13-week assignment with Day (7:00-19:30) or Night (19:00-7:30) 4x12 hour shift options
• Schedule of 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required, equating to 6 weekend shifts within a six-week period
• Uses Cerner EMR

Requirements

• Active MD or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required within the last 7 years
• Must have completed at least one previous travel assignment
• Cerner charting system experience required
• Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with wound care, IV insulin protocols, and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Experience with renal failure and hemodialysis management
• Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to critical and intermediate care patients across both ICU and IMC units
• Candidates must reside within 60 miles to be considered local, with a lower pay rate applying to local candidates
• Driver's license address must match local radius for local status determination
• No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days permitted per 13-week contract
• Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• Manager interviews are not guaranteed, and candidates should be comfortable proceeding without one
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
