Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit position requiring 2 years of telemetry experience and TN or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele (MS/Tele) unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, orthopedic, ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and plastics cases
• 1:7 patient ratios
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 36/36 schedule, 18:30-7:00
• Every other weekend and rotating holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units required
• No call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required (AHA certification is the only accepted form)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Experience with chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience managing GI conditions including bowel obstruction and ostomy care
• Experience with renal/genitourinary care including CBI and hemodialysis management
• Experience with neurological and psychiatric conditions including CVA, TBI, and substance withdrawal
• Experience administering high-risk medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and remote telemetry monitoring
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care across a varied med/surg and telemetry patient population
• Participate in clinical education and support for nursing students alongside regular patient care duties
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online coursework; 16 hours of non-billable orientation included
• EKG competency testing required within 72 hours of signing, with up to two attempts allowed
• Drug screening must be completed 12-14 calendar days prior to start, with availability for a second test if needed
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
• Candidates must reside 100+ miles from the facility's service area; no local candidates accepted
