Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit, requiring OCN certification and a GA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Medical Surgical Oncology unit caring for adult to geriatric patients
  • Manages oncology diagnoses from diagnosis through end-of-life care, hematology diagnoses, and oncologic emergencies
  • Care includes DNR/CC status patients, chemo precautions, and pain management with morphine and dilaudid drips
  • Utilizes CADD pumps and PCA pumps for medication administration
  • 19-bed unit with an average daily census of 15 and a 1:6 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating required within the facility and possibly to a nearby campus location approximately 3 miles away
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days, with RTO required at time of consideration
  • No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Holiday coverage required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment, both must be worked with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays occur, two must be worked with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Returning employees or travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for one full year to be eligible to return
  • Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests accommodated
