Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit, requiring OCN certification and a GA or compact RN license.
Details
- Medical Surgical Oncology unit caring for adult to geriatric patients
- Manages oncology diagnoses from diagnosis through end-of-life care, hematology diagnoses, and oncologic emergencies
- Care includes DNR/CC status patients, chemo precautions, and pain management with morphine and dilaudid drips
- Utilizes CADD pumps and PCA pumps for medication administration
- 19-bed unit with an average daily census of 15 and a 1:6 patient ratio
- Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating required within the facility and possibly to a nearby campus location approximately 3 miles away
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Additional Information
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Maximum RTO of 7 days, with RTO required at time of consideration
- No RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment, both must be worked with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays occur, two must be worked with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Returning employees or travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for one full year to be eligible to return
- Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests accommodated
