Description

American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN with 24 months of recent ICU experience and travel experience for a 13-week days assignment in Grinnell, IA.

Details

• ICU setting with 5 ICU beds and 3 stepdown beds
• Patient types include vent, BiPAP, AirVo, bariatric surgery, and general surgery cases
• Drips used include propofol, levophed, diltiazem, insulin, and heparin
• Typical patient ratios are 1:2, sometimes 1:3 depending on overflow
• Days shift, 7a start, 3x12s, 36 hrs/week, no 48s
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float required to Med Surg unit when ICU census is low or staff calls off
• Med Surg patient types include bariatric surgery, ortho, and general med surg with a 1:5 ratio
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active IA state or compact/multistate RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Active TNCC certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred, can be obtained during onboarding
• Minimum 24 months of recent/current ICU experience required
• Recent travel nursing experience within the last 24 months required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Comfort caring for 2-5 patients required
• Experience with tele reads/measures required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 2 years preferred

Additional Information

• Provide ICU-level nursing care including ventilator, BiPAP, and AirVo management for bariatric and general surgery patients
• May float between ICU, stepdown, and Med Surg units as needed
• Holiday rotation required, with 1-2 of 3 upcoming Winter holidays to be worked unless the unit is closed
• Limited time-off requests permitted during the Thanksgiving and Winter holiday blackout periods
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are restricted from working travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
