Description

American Traveler is seeking a night-shift RN for a PCU Oncology unit, requiring at least 1 year of experience and a NE or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Level 1 trauma hospital
• 18-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Oncology and Trauma PCU patients
• Adult patient population, including oncology patients from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life care
• Patient ratios of 1:4-1:5 on both day and night shifts
• 12-hour night shifts, 6:30p-7:00a, with self-scheduling balanced to unit needs
• Every other weekend required
• Uses Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
• Lift equipment available in even-numbered rooms
• Common medications/drips include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix, with occasional insulin and Cardizem titration
• High-flow respiratory equipment commonly used
• Floating to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care
• Two days of unit orientation provided

Requirements

• Active RN license, State or NE/Compact (NLC), required at time of submission
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• ONS/ONCC certification preferred but not required
• Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
• Driver's license required for consideration and to confirm residency
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to oncology and trauma PCU patients, focusing on hourly rounding and bedside shift report
• Support staff includes nursing assistants, charge nurse, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietitian
• Unit emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care for a diverse population
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; failure to comply may result in contract termination
• RNs must pass an open-book, pass/fail skills exam (90% required) during orientation to remain on assignment
