Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN for a night shift position requiring NIHSS certification and recent neuro nursing experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical - Neuro unit with 32 beds
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Rapid response team activation as part of unit function
• Uses Epic charting system
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units within scope as needed
• Weekend requirement of 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM state or compact) required, pending acceptance okay but must be obtained prior to start
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent nursing experience required
• First time travelers accepted if they have 24 months of nursing experience
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, HFNC, and oxygen administration
• Experience with CVA/neurological patient care preferred
• Experience with wound care, wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management

Additional Information

• Provide medical surgical nursing care to neurological patient population within a 32-bed unit
• Receive brief orientation when floating to like units
• First time travelers are welcome to apply with sufficient nursing experience
• Must reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility as locals are not accepted
• Former staff members must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted for this position
