Description

American Traveler is seeking a PICU Respiratory Therapist for a weekends-only night shift position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring RRT and PALS certification.

Details

Weekends-only position covering Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
3 or 4 shifts per week with every weekend required
Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching and Magnet-designated hospital
323 inpatient beds including 70 NICU beds
Floats within scope of practice between NICU/PICU/CICU across all ages, no floating to sister facilities
No on-call requirement
Uses Cerner charting system
No block scheduling available

Requirements

RRT, BLS, and PALS certifications required prior to start
NRP certification preferred
DC RRT license required (license required if applicable)
MD/VA compact or state license required if applicable
Minimum 1 year of experience required; 3+ years strongly preferred for first-time travelers
NICU/PICU experience preferred
Pediatric experience strongly preferred
Level I Trauma experience preferred
Prior travel experience required
Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
Experience with neonatal/pediatric airway management, suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene
Experience interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs)
Experience with medication delivery systems and administration for respiratory therapy

Additional Information

Provide respiratory care across NICU, PICU, and CICU patient populations of all ages
Complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation
Scrubs must be solid color, logo-free, and child-friendly in appearance
Local candidates accepted at the same travel rate with no mileage restriction
Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
Maximum RTO of 1 week; no RTO approved after initial offer
Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one guaranteed holiday preference
