Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week assignment requiring active PA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit setting in a hospital environment
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Rotating day/night shifts (3x12 hours), with possible accommodation for nights only
• Floating required within the hospital and may extend to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in GI care including ostomy and feeding tube management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy, and oxygen administration preferred
• Renal/GU care experience including CBI and dialysis management
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Knowledge of isolation precautions, wound care, and cardiac monitoring/emergency response
• Experience in orthopedic, neuro/psych, and endocrine patient care settings preferred
• SSN, DOB, driver's license, and RTO required for consideration
• Two supervisor references preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to Med/Surg patients including those with respiratory, GI, renal, and orthopedic needs
• Participate in cardiac monitoring and emergency response, including rapid response and code team activation
• Must be willing to work every other holiday
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address; local candidates not accepted
• Travel pairs may be accommodated based on facility need, though same schedule cannot be guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must have a 2-year gap before returning through an agency
• Travelers who complete a cumulative year within the health system must take a 2-year break before returning
• Fingerprinting, drug screening, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
• Compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
