Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift acute care position requiring 2 years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care Cardio Thoracic telemetry unit with 70 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 on nights
• Common diagnoses include MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• RNs required to titrate drips, mainly Cardizem and heparin
• 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor coverage on the unit
• PCT support at ratios of 1:10-12 on nights
• Philips telemetry monitors used, with monitor techs available, though RNs must read and interpret their own strips
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday)
• Floating required to other general medical units
• No call or standby requirements
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EKG interpretation and medication titration skills required
• Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels as part of a Drug-Free Campus policy

Additional Information

• Provide bedside nursing care for cardiac and thoracic patients, including drip titration and EKG monitoring
• Troubleshoot CPAP/BiPAP equipment as part of a patient's home regimen
• Holiday rotation required, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Unit-specific orientation is typically one shift or partial shift, depending on prior OSF facility experience
• Scrubs may be any color but must avoid children's or cartoon-style prints as this is an adult unit
• Local candidates accepted with reduced local bill rate for those within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius rule restricting eligibility for the position
