Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele PCU position requiring 2 years of community hospital experience and both KS and MO or compact license in hand.

Details

• Community hospital setting on a PCU/Med-Surg Telemetry unit
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Required weekend coverage: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule, combination of Fri/Sat/Sun
• Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses telemetry monitoring equipment
• Charting is done in EPIC
• Scrub color required: Navy

Requirements

• Active RN license required (Missouri and Kansas or compact license in hand at time of consideration)
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required; ACLS and CPI preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required, including community hospital experience
• Previous charge RN experience preferred
• Prior travel RN experience required
• Skills required include cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, IV therapy including central/peripheral/PICC line care, blood product administration, heparin protocol management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management without titration, PCA management, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP and high flow nasal cannula use, ABG interpretation, tracheostomy care, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Preferred skills include sheath removal, port accessing, phlebotomy, and total joint replacement care
• SSN required for consideration
• Two professional references required within the past year, one from a supervisor or above and one from a charge RN

Additional Information

• Care for patients with conditions such as AMI, cardiac arrhythmia, heart failure, chest pain, vascular/PVD, sepsis/infection, pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, suicidal ideation, GI bleed, and pre/post cath patients including femoral line/groin site management
• Facility is a 240-bed community hospital with a 16-bed ICU
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service if previously worked a travel assignment, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
