Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics position requiring 2+ years of total joint replacement experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg/Ortho unit in a Level 1 trauma hospital
• 22-bed unit with patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Orthopedic patient population including joint replacements and fractures
• Telemetry monitoring present on unit, though RNs are not required to read strips
• RNs not required to titrate drips
• Respiratory therapy equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, high flow) used as needed
• CNAs available at a ratio of 1:7-8, with charge nurse coverage 24/7
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule, Friday/Saturday/Sunday 7p-7:30a
• Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Possible floating to 7E, 7W, 10W, and 10E units
• 36 guaranteed hours per week over a 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Total joint replacement experience required (fracture-only experience not sufficient)
• Strong orthopedic nursing background required
• BSN not required
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide an approved medical/religious exemption
• Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic patients including joint replacement and fracture cases
• 1-2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
• Royal blue scrub color required per dress code
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital)
• Previous permanent staff must have a 2-year break before returning as a traveler
• Previous travelers who completed a full year at this health system must take a 2-year break before returning
• Travelers may not work within this health system for longer than one year without taking a 2-year break
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
