Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Neuro RN with NIHSS certification and recent acute care experience for a 13-week day shift assignment.
Details
- Work on a 32-bed Medical Surgical Neuro unit
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
- Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours (6:30am-7:00pm)
- Requires 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
- No on-call requirements
- Floating to like units required, with brief orientation provided
- Utilizes Epic charting system
- Supports rapid response team activation
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending acceptable with license obtained prior to start
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
- First-time travelers considered if they have 24 months of nursing experience
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
- Experience with CVA care, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience with heparin, insulin, and PCA medication administration
- Experience with ostomy and feeding tube management
- Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a neurological and medical-surgical patient population
- Participate in rapid response activations as needed
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
