Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift contract requiring prior travel experience and active CA RN licensure.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit providing care across antepartum, delivery, and postpartum stages
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to Antepartum required
- No on-call requirements
- Epic charting experience preferred
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Minimum 2 years of L&D nursing experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with high-risk antepartum and labor & delivery management required
- Skills required include IV therapy, blood product administration, fetal monitoring (external and internal), amnioinfusion, and assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
- Experience managing patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, preterm labor, and postpartum hemorrhage
- Two supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
Additional Information
- Serve as the patient's primary nurse, managing care from admission through discharge
- Responsible for patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and emergency response
- Provide care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages including high-risk pregnancies and newborn care
- Support pain management methods including epidural, IV conscious sedation, and nitrous oxide
- Administer medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Assist with surgical procedures including C-sections, cervical cerclage, and tubal ligation
- Holiday coverage required for one assigned holiday per contract (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas)
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
- Returning staff or travelers must have a one-year separation before reapplying
- First-time travelers are not eligible due to travel experience requirement
