Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN with CA licensure and prior travel experience for a 13-week evening shift assignment.

Details

Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
Facility averages 200-300 births per month
Patient ratio of 1:2
Floating required to Antepartum unit
Evening shift, 3x12 hours (3:00 PM - 3:00 AM)
Every other weekend required
No on-call requirements
Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

Active CA RN license required
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Minimum 2 years of experience required
Previous travel nursing experience required
Skills in labor and delivery management including assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing hemorrhage/shock
Experience with fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
Experience caring for high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and placenta previa
Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives

Additional Information

Serve as primary nurse managing overall nursing care from admission to discharge
Respond to medical and environmental emergencies including adult and neonatal arrest
Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including resuscitation and thermoregulation
Provide postpartum care including breastfeeding support and couplet care
Holiday coverage required for one of the following: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day
Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract with only one holiday request approved
Accepts local candidates within a 50-mile radius at the local rate
Returning staff must have a separation period of at least 1 year to be eligible as a traveler
First-time travelers are not considered for this position due to travel experience requirement
