Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift hospital position requiring adult ICU and critical care experience with RRT certification.
Details
- Hospital-based respiratory therapy unit providing care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
- Night shift hours, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM depending on facility
- Will float between two hospital facilities, with shift times adjusted accordingly
- Patient ratio of 5 ventilators to 1 therapist
- Every other weekend and holiday work required
- No on-call requirement
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- RT or RCP license in state of employment required (license required if applicable)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification via AHA required
- Adult ICU experience required
- Critical care experience required for CRTs if considered
- 1-3 years of experience preferred
Additional Information
- Responsible for pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill patients under physician direction with minimal supervision
- Performs patient assessments and implements respiratory care plans
- Duties include emergency response, airway management, ventilator management, aerosolized drug delivery, oxygen therapy, and diagnostic procedures such as chest film and blood gas analysis
- May perform advanced skills including bronchoscopy assist, hemodynamic monitoring, pulmonary function testing, and polysomnography
- May serve as shift leader or team leader
- Participates in equipment cleaning, stocking, and documentation duties
- Gray scrubs required as part of dress code
- Returning employees who previously worked at any facility within the health system must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new travel assignment
