Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 3+ years of CVICU experience and a passing EKG test score

Details

• Cardiovascular-focused ICU unit within a hospital setting
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation
• May float to Glenbrook MICU, Evanston ICU, or Highland Park ICU as needed

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred, American Red Cross accepted for BLS)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 3 years of CVICU experience required
• Must pass an EKG test with a score of 80% or higher prior to consideration
• Epic EMR experience required and must be reflected in employment history
• Charge experience preferred
• Skills required include dysrhythmia interpretation/management, multi-system organ failure care, thermoregulation, CABG, IABP, Impella, post cardiac surgery care, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, PA line/Swan Ganz monitoring, valve replacement/repair, LVAD/RVAD, CVVHD/CRRT
• IV therapy skills including port access, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, and IV starts
• Medication management including continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• CVA/acute stroke management and lumbar drain care experience
• Experience assisting with BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patient care, including HFNC, ABG interpretation, and suctioning
• Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions, PPE use, phlebotomy, and surgical wound/drain care
• Two current professional references from a Supervisor, Manager, or Charge nurse within the area, dated within the last year
• A travel reference is preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular ICU patients
• Participate in an on-site Day 1 EKG test (pass/fail) after an initial pre-submission passing score; a study guide will be provided in advance
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Returning permanent or per diem staff must have been away from the facility for at least 12 months to be considered as a traveler
• RTO for this 8-week contract is limited to a maximum of 3 days
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
