Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN with CA licensure and AWHONN Advanced certification for a 13-week day shift assignment.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room, APGAR scoring, and neonatal resuscitation
• Experience managing labor and delivery, including assisting with vaginal delivery and pain management such as epidural anesthesia
• Experience with fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, and use of external and internal fetal monitors
• Experience with antepartum care procedures including sterile vaginal exams
• Experience administering Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin (oxytocin)

• Conduct physiological, spiritual, and emotional patient and family assessments
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate patient-centered care plans
• Communicate patient care plans across shifts and departments to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families
• Delegate tasks appropriately based on scope of practice and individual capability
• Educate patients and families using teach-back methods to ensure understanding
• Document patient care and treatment information in the electronic health record
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to newly hired staff as needed
• Accepts local candidates at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage includes New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
• First-time travelers are not required for this position
