Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Complex Medical Unit position requiring 2 years of comparable acuity hospital experience and Cerner EMR proficiency.

Details

• Complex Medical Unit – Acute Care setting within a hospital
• Typical patient ratio of 1:6, varying according to need
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Block scheduling may be accommodated based on patient and unit needs

Requirements

• Active unencumbered TN or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a comparable acuity hospital setting required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Experience managing neurological and psychiatric conditions such as CVA, seizure disorders, and TBI
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and heparin protocols
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and renal failure/hemodialysis management
• Two professional references required, which may be pending at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs across multiple body systems
• Must pass a basic dysrhythmia interpretation test and medication test during orientation
• Complete required orientation modules, which vary by specialty and are also required annually
• Entire weeks during holidays are not available for time off, though individual dates may be negotiable depending on staffing needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
