Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 3 years of ER experience and prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Work in a General Emergency Department treating combined adult/pediatric patients
• Level II Trauma Center that is also STEMI and Stroke certified
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule alternating between 3x12-hour and 4x12-hour shifts on a 36/48 hour alternating schedule
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS
• CPI, ENPC, and MAB certifications preferred
• Minimum 3 years of ER experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
• Level II Trauma Center experience preferred
• Skilled in emergency medications including IV vasopressors and emergency drug administration
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
• Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing psychiatric holds, acute psychosis, and violent behavior
• Experience with pediatric emergency conditions such as asthma, seizures, and head injury preferred
• Experience with neurological trauma including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury preferred

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of adult and pediatric conditions including trauma, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, and respiratory emergencies
• Manage shock/trauma cases including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Apply and manage splints for orthopedic trauma cases
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screen upon arrival, with a positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility as local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer
