Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position in a Level II Trauma Emergency Department requiring prior urban trauma experience.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department serving a combined adult/pediatric population
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required
• Epic charting system used
• Block scheduling not accommodated

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Prior experience in an urban, Level II Trauma ED required
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS certifications required
• TNCC and CPI certifications preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Skilled in triage, trauma care, and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
• Experience with emergency medications, IV therapy, and respiratory management
• Experience managing psychiatric and behavioral health emergencies
• Experience with orthopedic trauma and splinting

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a wide range of conditions including trauma, cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and psychiatric cases
• Manage high-acuity patients such as gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and head or spinal cord injuries
• Collaborate with the care team to triage and treat patients efficiently in a fast-paced trauma environment
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with no RTO allowed during the first or last week of the contract
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Former UChicago Medicine or Ingalls Memorial staff must have a 7-month gap before returning as a traveler
