Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU Float RN for a night shift position requiring TX or compact RN license, prior travel experience, and floating to Med Surg units.

Details

• Float position supporting primarily Med Surg units within a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) framework
• Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, renal, neurological/psychiatric, and orthopedic cases
• Typical patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours), 19:00-7:00
• Must agree to an alternating 36/48 hour biweekly schedule totaling 84 hours with a 72 hour guarantee
• Weekend work required, potentially most weekends during the contract
• Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and port access/management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team response
• Experience with vasoactive and cardiac drip management
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Experience with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac cath or surgery care
• Current Nursys license verification required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a PCU setting with floating responsibilities to Med Surg as needed
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
• Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility, with local candidates not accepted
• RTO spanning all contract holidays will not be approved
• License must be in-hand prior to start of assignment
• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting an offer or have a documented plan for completion
• Orientation includes required training modules, averaging 2-3 hours, completed via Oracle
