Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center position requiring trauma and pediatric emergency care experience along with an active IL license.

Details

• Work in a 32-bed combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department with an average daily census of 120
• 1:4 patient ratios for all shifts
• 3x12 day shift schedule, 0700-1900
• Every other weekend work required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
• Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Preferred certifications: ENPC, NRP
• Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition required
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required, including blood product administration, central line care, and starting IVs
• Experience administering emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics required
• Neurological case experience required, including CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Orthopedic trauma case experience required
• Pediatric emergency case experience required across a broad range of conditions
• Psychiatric emergency case experience required, including management of violent and suicidal patients
• Respiratory case experience required, including intubation, ventilator management, chest tube insertion, and ABG interpretation
• Shock/trauma case experience required, including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
• Isolation precautions/PPE and triage skills required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide emergency care across a combined adult and pediatric patient population in a Level II Trauma Center
• Royal blue scrubs required
• RTO requests of more than 5 non-holiday days require facility approval
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Floating required for all travelers to other units or affiliate facilities
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
