Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a combined ICU/PCU unit requiring 2+ years of recent adult ICU experience and AHA certifications.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a combined ICU/PCU unit (9 beds, 1 code bed)
• Mixed adult and geriatric ICU and step-down patient population
• Patient ratios of 1:2 for ICU and 1:4 for PCU patients
• Uses ventilators, BiPAP, arterial lines, CVP monitoring, central lines, Sigma infusion pumps, GE cardiac monitoring, Omnicell, and Accu-Chek glucometers
• Charts in Paragon (Clinical Care Station) EHR
• Night shift schedule, 7p-7a
• Works up to every other weekend
• On-call required up to 2 times per contract
• Float rotation shared equally with core ICU/PCU staff, with modified or reduced assignments on receiving units such as Med-Surg/Tele, ED tasking/holding, or sitter duties

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or compact) required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of recent adult ICU experience required
• ADN required
• Experience with vents, pressors, drip titration, arterial and central lines, BiPAP, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal management required
• Comfortable managing a mixed ICU/PCU patient population

Additional Information

• Care for patients with conditions including sepsis/septic shock, ARDS/respiratory failure, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, CHF exacerbation, COPD exacerbation, Afib with RVR, hypertensive crisis, and overdose
• Reports to the ICU Director
• Facility is working to reopen a dedicated PCU, so ICU staff currently manage both ICU and PCU-level patients
• Preferred candidates have prior travel experience, step-down/PCU experience, or rural/community hospital experience with strong adaptability and minimal orientation needs
• Scrub color is any solid color
• Artificial nails, open-toed shoes, and strong fragrances are not permitted
• Must reside 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify for the travel rate
• Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
• Cannot be employed elsewhere full-time
