Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN with a minimum of 2 years experience and PICC line/IV skills for a 13-week day shift assignment at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a 562-bed acute care hospital
• Day shift, 3x12 hours (0645-1915)
• Works every other weekend, with makeup weekends scheduled if time off falls on a weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Must be willing to accept up to a 1:7 patient ratio if needed
• Must be willing to care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients (experience not required but willingness to learn is)
• Cerner charting system used (experience preferred)

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of application
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Experience with PICC line management and starting/maintaining IVs required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, PCA, surgical drains, tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac

• Works in a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
• Scrub color: any solid color
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests are reviewed and approved by the unit manager based on scheduling needs
• Only one winter holiday off may be requested
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
