Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN with Trauma Level I/II experience and at least 2 years of recent MS/Tele nursing experience.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Patient population includes neurology, stroke, cardiac, wound care, respiratory, orthopedic, oncology, and surgical diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 1900-0730
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Call and floating required based on hospital census
• Uses Pyxis and Omnicell medication systems and SBAR communication
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience required (hard stop)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Trauma Level I and/or Level II experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management experience
• Competent in oxygen administration, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required
• One professional reference required (within 2 years)
• Current Nursys report required, pulled within 2 weeks of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a medically and surgically complex patient population requiring telemetry monitoring
• Float within the hospital based on census needs
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; no additions after submission
• Previous permanent staff at the facility are not eligible for consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate if within 50 miles of the facility
• EPIC training module required during orientation, approximately 8 hours for RNs
