Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for a night shift inpatient PACU/Preop role requiring ICU or ED background and a CA RN license.

Details

• Inpatient PACU/Preop Day unit setting
• Majority of patient population is low acuity
• Shift schedule: nights, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Every other to every third weekend required, with Sunday night not counted as a weekend
• On-call requirement of about 3 shifts per 6-week schedule period
• Floating required to PAT, Main PACU, and GI Lab
• Pediatric and adult PACU patient management

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• ICU or ED experience required
• Proficiency in Phase I and Phase II PACU recovery care
• Skilled in airway management including intubation, extubation, and LMA/ET placement
• Experience with procedural sedation, conscious sedation, MAC, and nerve blocks
• Competency in dysrhythmia recognition and management, cardioversion, and cardiac arrest response
• Experience with IV starts, blood product administration, and medication administration including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, and emergency medications
• Knowledge of hypothermia and malignant hyperthermia protocols
• Experience with pre/post-operative and pre/post-endoscopy care
• Ability to perform 12 lead EKG/ECG and urinary catheterization
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including ENT, Ortho, GYN, Urology, Plastics, and Ophthalmology
• Perform pre-op assessments, education, and medication administration
• Conduct discharge instructions, follow-up calls, and medication reconciliation
• Manage pain assessment using RASS and stroke scale tools
• Perform circulation checks and manage vascular access/ports
• Support surgical recovery for pediatric and adult patients
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront with no exceptions
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted
• Travel pairs accepted though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must have a 365-day separation before returning as a traveler
• Floating required for all travelers based on facility needs
