Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a night shift Level I/II trauma teaching hospital position requiring 4+ years of experience and Epic charting.

• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• 13 or 26 week assignment options
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating within scope of practice may be required

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• BLS required
• ACCS and ACLS certifications preferred
• VA state license required (license required if applicable, pending accepted if in hand by Wednesday before start)
• Minimum 4 years of experience required, though candidates with 2+ years may be considered
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required

Additional Information

• Work in adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Manage patients with ARDS, aspiration, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
• Perform ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Administer medications via nebulizer, MDI, and other delivery systems including Albuterol, Atrovent, and inhaled steroids
• Perform airway management including intubation/extubation assistance, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
• Draw and interpret arterial blood gases
• Provide chest physiotherapy including vest therapy
• Maximum 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract with no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
• Disclose any planned vacation between sign date and start date
• Previous UVA employment as permanent staff or traveler requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• First-time travelers not considered for this position
