Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level 4 NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and NICU/PICU experience.

Details

• Work in a Level 4 NICU and Pediatric Critical Care unit within a children's hospital setting
• Unit utilizes a self-scheduling model, though specific shift preferences are not guaranteed
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
• Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Must float within scope of practice as needed
• Epic EMR experience required for inpatient units

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• PALS certification preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
• Level 4 NICU experience required
• PICU Cardiac experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• VA state license required if applicable
• Two professional references required
• Copies of required certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients including those with ARDS, BPD, respiratory distress syndrome, and other complex conditions
• Perform airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
• Manage ventilators including high frequency jet and oscillating ventilators
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
• Administer medications via nebulizer, MDI, and other delivery systems
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Time off requests around Christmas cannot be guaranteed
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
• Any planned vacation between sign date and start date must be disclosed to coordinate an appropriate start date
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
