Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 NICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level 3 NICU experience and TN or compact RN licensure.

Details

Work in a 60-bed Level 3 NICU within a freestanding children's hospital
Care for neonates from 22 weeks gestation to term, including a high preemie population and surgical patients
Provides respiratory support including high frequency oscillator and jet ventilation, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
All patients arrive via an active neonatal transport team
Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM-7:15 PM
Every 3rd weekend required
Float requirement to PICU and general peds floors for patients under 2 years old
Uses Omnicell medication system, transitioning to Pyxis in September
Documentation via Meditech

Requirements

Active TN or compact RN license required
Current BLS, NRP, NRP Advanced, and STABLE certifications required
Minimum 2 years of Level 3 NICU experience required
Experience with IV therapy, arterial lines, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal dosage calculations
Experience with high frequency ventilation, oscillators, bubble CPAP, and ventilator management preferred
Experience with therapeutic hypothermia, NEC, and neonatal sepsis management preferred
Meditech charting experience preferred
Teaching hospital experience preferred
Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including APGAR scoring, developmental care, and patient/family education
Support neonates with respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurologic, and endocrine/metabolic conditions
Manage specialized procedures such as lumbar puncture assistance and VP shunt care
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates accepted at the same rate
Travelers may float to different units as needed
Travelers who have oriented at this facility within the past year do not need to reorient
