Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week contract requiring prior travel experience, a CA RN license, and Epic EMR proficiency.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:5 across days, nights, and weekends
• Floating required
• Weekend coverage required as needed

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required in-hand
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care Med/Surg experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required and must be documented in work history
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Two supervisor references required
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC/peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy, and oxygen administration
• Experience with GI care including bariatric surgery, ostomy management, and feeding tubes
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with wound care, wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across Med/Surg, Telemetry, Orthopedics, and Cardiovascular patient populations
• Manage post-surgical and post-procedural patients including total joint replacement, ortho trauma, and post-angiogram cases
• Work within a structured team supporting isolation precautions and emergency response protocols
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to return as a traveler
• Minimum 1 year of RTO restriction applies at the start of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO preferred per 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
