Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring 1+ year of PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• PCU unit specializing in heart failure and post-transplant cardiac patients at a lower acuity cardiac level
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 26-week assignment with options for 13-26 weeks
• Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
• Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends with rotating holidays
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certification: PCCN
• 1 year of PCU experience required
• 2 years of overall RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills required: IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Care for heart failure and post-transplant cardiac patients in a lower acuity cardiac setting
• Responsibilities include IV therapy, central/peripheral/PICC line management, blood product administration, and arterial line management
• Cardiac monitoring duties include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and titration of cardiac drips
• Respiratory care duties include chest tube management, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post cardiac surgery care preferred
• Renal and endocrine care including management of renal failure and insulin drip titration
• Candidates must complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting as soon as possible after accepting an offer, including lifetime background checks
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel positions
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience requirements
