Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU RN with Level III+ experience and travel experience required for a night shift position with on-call and weekend requirements.

Details

• NICU unit within a community hospital setting
• Patient ratios of 1:2-3
• Patient population includes neonates under 24-28 weeks and above 34 weeks
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• On-call and weekend coverage required
• Attends high-risk deliveries

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and NRP Advanced
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Level III NICU experience or higher required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC lines, UAC/UVC management, and administration of blood products
• Experienced with neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics, vasopressors, and surfactants
• Proficient in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oxygen delivery systems
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, and patient/family teaching
• Manages neurologic cases including seizure disorders, ICP monitoring, and assisting with lumbar puncture
• Provides respiratory care including CPAP, suctioning, and management of respiratory distress syndrome
• Handles gastrointestinal care including feedings and nasogastric/nasojejunal tube management
• Manages infectious disease precautions including neonatal sepsis workups and isolation protocols
• Facility conducts its own mandatory drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing
• Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
