Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a flex pod unit requiring float coverage across multiple specialties and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• 10-bed med-surg flex pod unit operating Monday 7am through Friday 7pm
• Nurse will float among general medical, neuro, general surgery, orthopedics, cardiac medical/surgical, oncology, nephrology, and observation units
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5/6
• All beds are telemetry capable, with monitoring performed remotely by telemetry technicians
• Uses Epic EMR
• Shift hours are 07:00-19:30
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days of start

Additional Information

• Assess patient needs and implement nursing interventions consistent with the physician's plan of care
• Conduct hourly rounds utilizing the 4 P's approach
• Provide standard-of-care management for central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and fall-risk patients
• Contribute to department growth through precepting, mentoring, and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Maintain a professional, compassionate, and respectful approach with patients, families, and co-workers
• Understand proper storage and safety protocols for medications, including large volume IVs and pre-packaged medication kits
